About CABINSCAPE & Wildscape Co.

CABINSCAPE is a Canadian-owned company offering custom designed, low impact and ecologically sound tiny cabin rentals for intimate wilderness escapes. We have been operating for over 6 years now and currently have 30+ cabins available across Southern Ontario, with plans to increase our fleet across the country.

Wildscape Co. is our sister company, focusing in cabin construction for clients. Wildscape Co. was developed by CABINSCAPE CEO/Co-Founder, and the mastermind behind our tiny home builds, John Loerchner. Our small but mighty team is growing rapidly, and we are looking for experienced construction staff with an interest in off-grid designs to join us on this exciting adventure!

Job Summary 

Wildscape Co. is seeking a reliable and personable Cabin Construction Worker member to assist with the day-to-day construction of our tiny, solar powered cabins. Reporting to the Workshop Crew Lead, and working closely with the rest of the workshop crew, the Cabin Construction Worker will predominantly be responsible for carpentry work relating to our cabin builds, but familiarity with wiring, plumbing and general methods of home construction are an asset.

Duties + Responsibilities

  • Assisting with framing, cladding and interior finishing
  • Fabrication of shelving, trim and interior finishes
  • Understanding of all aspects of home building
  • Tool and site organization
  • Picking up and ordering construction materials/lumber/supplies
  • Maintaining and cleaning the workshop and construction site

Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • A G license and access to a vehicle required
  • Access to a smartphone
  • Basic knowledge of framing, wiring, plumbing, and electrical systems (solar power / 12v wiring a plus)
  • Strong work ethic and desire to learn
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work positively and productively as part of a team
  • Sound judgment and creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and utilize technical manuals and drawings
  • Reliable time management skills
  • Ability to conduct physically demanding tasks
  • Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools
  • Passion for the tiny home movement
  • Digitally competent 
  • Experience with inventory management software (an asset)

Hours of work

  • Regular weekday hours: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
  • Appox. 30 hours per week.
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours required.

Compensation + Perks 

  • Full-time freelance position (hourly); no benefits  
  • Rate of pay: $18/hour (dependent on experience)
